Crowdfunding: Are you ready to rock?
By: Mandy Cummings, WildRock Account Coordinator
As noted in a Forbes article discussing the effectiveness of crowdfunding campaigns, contributor Will Schroter made the following observation of the LulzBot Fundable campaign WildRock is proud to have worked on:
“What we’re seeing more and more is that good fundraisers are good marketers. And like any good marketer, successful entrepreneurs consistently start with a very focused marketing plan. They begin building their target lists well in advance of their crowdfunding campaign… It’s well planned, and not at all incidental.”
With those words of inspiration, we’re reminded that crowdfunding is exciting, fast-paced and intensive. Before you dive in to a project, consider these tried-and-tested tips from the WildRock team to determine if you’re ready to make the leap:
Have you researched all fundraising & equity raising platforms?
Crowdfunding can be incredibly powerful, however with some technical intricacies and fees involved, we always recommend that project owners research all fundraising options available before dedicating themselves to launching a crowdfunding project.
Are you in a rush?
Engaging in impactful communication outreach for a crowdfunding campaign takes serious time. WildRock recommends at least 30 days to prepare for a project launch. If you’re in a hurry to raise funds, this may not be the course for you.
Brush up on your narrative.
From images to testimonial and video, crowdfunding is about telling your story. Even if you don’t have the budget for professional video creation, consider if you’re ready to dedicate the time and creativity to pulling together both written and visual storytelling components.
Drop a pebble…
And watch the ripples grow. Each time you add a member to your team, you’re adding a source of power and extended networking. Do you know energetic and organized people who would be willing to get on board and take co-ownership of the project?
According to IndieGoGo, “Campaigns with teams raise 80% more funds than those run by an individual.”
Are you ready to be the face of your project?
WildRock is here to support crowdfunding projects and develop outreach strategies, but the project owner has to be ready to lead the charge, take ownership and get in front of listening audiences to gain attention.
Are you thinking about launching a crowdfunding project? WildRock can help.
